Laryngeal fracture

Hi,

I am writing to ask if anyone has any knowledge on healed laryngeal fractures?

I have been advised against surgery but I can live my lafe with this, it is causing me great discomfort. When I swollow my Thyroid cartilage catches on my Hyoid bone I do believe and the strap muscle at the front catches and pings because it is slighty out of line.

I've heard of succesfull surgery with an inion biodegradible plate but I don't if anyone else has heard of or know of any similar cases?

Thank you very much for your response. The only time I get trouble breathing is when I run or jog. I think it maybe to do with the opening of the mouth and lowering of the jaw. Plus I struggle with severe discomfort whereby my muscle on the right side of my neck catches on the out of line section. The cartilage also catches and grinds when I swallow which feels awful and I'm concerned it will cause problems later on in life. The thing is the sensation of constant pressure, as if someone is pressing their thumb on my neck constantly which makes me want to correct it constantly.
I am going through the process of getting a second opinion at the moment so I will be sure to bring this up with the ENT.

Thank you

Hi, treatment for laryngeal fractures depends on the severity.  If its severe and interfering with airways, causing breathlessness, then surgical intervention is indicated to preserve the airway. Also, if there is vocal cord injury, surgical interventions are needed. For lesser severe cases conservative management is preferred. Hence your doctor could have advised this. For further therapy options discuss with your doctor. Regards.
