Neck Lump in 4 Year Old

A month or so ago, my daughter (4 years old) was being silly. She threw her head back and laughed. Just then I caught a glimpse of a lump at the top of her neck, not far down from the jaw. I got on the internet right away to see what I could find. A majority of sites said it was probably from a recent viral infection, which she had just gotten over. I decided to rest her and give it a week and try not to panic about it. It worked and the lump went almost entirely away.

That is until today. It's back. She's not had a recent viral infection. Perhaps she is coming down with one. I began to worry a bit when she also said her private hurt. I wondered if it was a UTI or yeast or something. Then I remembered that she had been out riding on Daddy's saw horses this morning and maybe that is what hurt her private. I'm keeping an eye on it.

I would run her to the Dr immediately if it were not for the fact that we are missionaries in a poor area, with not so great medical care. I am considering going to the States with her, if it is needed. I just want to make an educated decision and not be run by panic at this point.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this in an otherwise healthy child?

Has the lump gone away? I have beloved brothers and sisters who are missionaries in different countries. God bless your efforts for him. Many viruses and infections can cause inflammation in the limp glands. If it persists or continues to re-occur I would want to get it checked. Are there common known diseases or infections associated to that part of the world? Does a fever accompany it? Where is your family commended to? Has she been immunized and received her other vaccines? Be careful a little girl down the street from me was taken to hospital too late and died of pneumonia. Keeping your family in prayer.

My son has 2 lumps on his neck for 2 years now and they say it is from a viral infection that he had and it won't go away. they are keeping an eye on it.  it is like a lymph node.
I don't think it is a bad idea to put a call into her doctor and let them know, but I don't know if they will see her urgently or not.
I wish you the best of luck
