Swelling Behind Ear

Hello.

Within the last week I have noticed a swelling behind my left ear, it will occasionally cause minor pain and contain a pulse. It seems to have increased in size slightly over the week and is located just above the behind of the ear lobe. It will not cause pain often, but will if touch.

Just wondering what this could be, and if i should consult my GP for his opinion?

Thanks.

an ENT is an Ear Nose Throat surgeon.  Like Dr. Wilkinson who's in Los Angeles, CA.

I usually like to see patients if the lymph node hasn't gone away in 2 weeks.

This could also be a postauricular lymph node.  These sometimes enlarge in response to viral or bacterial infections. If it doesn't resolve, see your physician for an exam.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

sebacious cyst....  google it, and don't try to drain it. It may resolve on its own, but if it seems to only be getting worse, see an ENT.

A GP....  I would hope they would know it if they saw one.
