Chronic Sinusitis what next?

Hi, I have had what I believe to be sisusitis 9 times in a year and have spent a quarter of the time on broad spectrum anti biotics! I saw an ENT specialist 4 weeks ago who advised I have no polyps, or gunk! I had a CT scan but have no results as yet as have no letter etc! I have a steriod nasal spray and another appointment on the 27th of this month. Since seeing rh specialist and using the spray it came back again yesterday and I feel like I have a horse in a shoe hitting me in the face! It's on one side..in my cheek, jaw, eye, nose, ear and side of face. Even the skin feels tender to the touch! So......I didnt' knwo what to do.....so I phoned my doctor and he didn't seem to know what to tell me until I see my specialist in a couple of weeks! Great! So am self medicating more anti biotics in an attempt to clear it, I have no idea if this is the right thing to do! Any ideas? has anyone had the same? I have no idea what to expect next! Hot bags, codiene phospate and brufen are my friends!!!
Thanks
Pepper

If the antibiotics aren't working, its because the infected mucus becomes encapsulated and the drugs won't penetrate..  bigkev has the right idea, but gravity will prevent the saline from reaching your upper sinuses, where chronic lives.

The following technique will remove the infected mucus from all sinuses, using gravity instead of fighting it, and the journal explains the Mayo Clinic research which confirms the technique.

The Flip-Turn Sinus Flush is mildly risky, because you have to bend over to do it, preferably in a shower, but you can also do it outside on soft ground, or you can kneel down and lean over a bathtub with the shower running.

Good luck

Try sniffing up warm salt water from a little cup into each nostril while you hold the other one shut - doe this a few times aday when it's bad.  it hurts like hell for a minute but clears your sinuses out - I get the same pains and have for years. Otherwise try some saline nasal spray and use it a few times a day until you see the specialist.

I suggest that you talk to your doctor about TMJ.  That can cause referred pain as you describe, but not actually be a sinus infection.

You may want to try sinus rinses to wash anything out of your sinuses that might be causes issues.

Take care and God bless.
