Roaring ear

I am a single sided hearining person with moderate to profound SNHL in my good ear.  About a month ago I started having roaring in my ear.  I went to my ENT and he removed a lot of ear wax.  However the roaring episodes continued of and on.  He put me on Methylprednisolone but I was still having episodes of roaring.  He prescribed predisolone but I am still have the roaring episodes.  The episodes last a few days and are happening weekly.  Sometimes when the episodes are winding down my face feels hot and my ear canal feels hot.  These episodes are driving me bananas and I need help.  I only have one ear to hear with.  Is there anything that can be done to help with the roaring.  My ENT is sending me to an ear expert but that appointment is more than a week off.

I went to see the ear expert.  He thought maybe I had some fluid on my hearing nerve and told me to try a low salt diet.  So I have been on a low salt diet, but I still have the roaring about 3 days a week.  Quite often I have a humming noise.  The doctor said if the low salt diet did not help he could mask it with the use of a hearing aid which I already have.  I have found that sleeping or sitting on a back messager does actually mask this roaring and is allowing me to handle this.  My ear still feels like it is burning at times.  Actually, the otolaryngologist was really concerned over the SNHL I have experienced in my hearing ear.  He is having me tested to see if I will qualify for a cochlear implant on my deaf ear. This totally shocked me as I have always been told that nothing can be done about my deaf ear.  At first I thought he was crazy, but now I feel that I have nothing t

Have you had your blood pressure checked? This could be due to ear problems, but could also be due to blood pressure.

Thank you for your blood pressure suggestion.

I am on blood pressure medicine.  I have had it checked.  It does not seem to be the problem.  I believe the diagnosis of fluid is correct because I am having problems with my ear being full of fluid.  So frustrating!  The one and only thing that is getting through all this is my Lord and Savior Jesus.  He is my rock through all of this.

I am still fighting my roaring, rumbling and buzzing sounds.  However, I have found that a low salt diet does help with the roaring.  As soon as I let myself go a couple of days without watching the salt the roaring will start again.  Unfortunately, the fullness and burning sensation have continued most every day and I think both of my ENTs ignore my complaints about these.  I have been told it is not damaging my residual hearing.  It does cause my hearing to be distorted on bad days.  I am thankful that I can get the roaring under control.
