Smell

About 6 days ago I have begun to notice an odd smell in my nose when I inhale. The smell is one of hot electrical wires, or after a fire. I went to my family doctor and he said it sounds like a sinus infection, but I have had no discomfort around my sinuses or any symptoms of pressure. It is starting to really bother me and almost at times makes me sick on my stomach from smelling this all day. He put me on Keflex and I must return in 9 days for a re-check. Does this really sound like a sinus infection or something more serious?

There is nothing that seems to help. Keflex has not dented the smell at all. I even have begun to do steam inhalations, but nothing. Hopefully there will be something the doctor can do when I return on Wednesday. Nasal sprays and Vicks Vapor run do nothing either. Guess I have tried every avenue until Wed. Any suggestions

It may be a good sign that the smell is worse.  It's possible that more bacteria are dying and producing the waste products that smell.

I have been on Keflex for almost 5 days now and it has gotten so much worse. In fact I am nauseated from the smell. I have an appointment to return to my doctor on Wednesday. Hopefully relief is in sight, because it is so annoying. I think I am crazy .

That is one of the symptoms of a sinus infection.  It's the smell from toxins produced by your white blood cells killing bacteria, going straight to your olfactories.  It doesn't require a full blown infection to happen. When you take the Keflex, the smell might get worse before it gets better. Finish your course of Keflex even if the smell goes away, then go back to your doctor and trust him.
