Sore throat for almost a month. No organism found in throat culture test.

Probably a viral infection. I recently had a hiv fear although i used protection. My sixth week(actually five weeks, 6 days 12 hours to be precise) elissa fourth gen test came out negative. I'm a little sure that it can't be because of hiv. I have a wisdom tooth on my left side that is causing a tooth to decay. I got dental abscess about a month back. I didn't treat the dental abscess. This sore throat is pretty annoying. Ive been sucking lozenges & gargling my throat with warm salt water. Bought betadine now. My GP overloaded me with antibiotics since i told him that I might be at risk to an std. Could this be because of some std? My vdrl test also came negative at six week mark. Please help me out here.
There is one small pus on the right side of my throat that never leaves. On the left side the pus comes and goes now and then but now stopped since i continuously gargle my throat with salt water. I have this whitish kinda thing inside my left cheecks near the wisdom tooth. I havent had anything cold for a really long time. I havent smoked in a really long time either.

I went to the ent specialist. It seems i have kertosis pharyngis. He said its absolutely normal and would go away on its own. All i need to do is take care of it by drinking warm fluids and salt water gargling.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there,
Any infection in the body should be treated. Dental abscesses and pus pockets in the throat warrant evaluation and complete treatment with antibiotics. Persistent sore throat can be due to many causes like glandular fever, tonsillitis, laryngitis and cancer. It is suggested to see an ENT surgeon and get checked. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. Hope it helps.
Best wishes and regards!
