(Sort of) Hyperosmia, on occaision, becoming more frequent.

So I am unsure if this is an ENT question or (possibly) a migraine issue. I have had ENT issues my whole life and do have migraine disorder. Not chronic, thank God, but occaisional. I used to get classic migraine with strong visual aura, then a headache and postdrome. Over the past couple of years, the symptoms of my migraine have changed. Doc knows, thinks it's normal.

Here is what I have been noticing lately, at least for a year but seems to be happening more often. I will be able to suddenly smell, like really really well. Most of the time, the smell isn't "bad" so to speak, it's just a very rich and strong, but mostly accurate smell. For instance, I can usually smell my coffee normally, but when this happens it is a much more powerful smell and I can smell it from much further away.

I can also smell things that I don't usually smell such as the chlorine in my tap water that is used for treatment. It is quite strong during these times.

Obviously, this affects my taste as well. Things do taste so strongly that they do kinda taste off. I assume because I am not used to these things tasting like this.

Other things I notice every time is that my sinuses are WAY WAY open. Probably as far as they can ever possibly be. No congestion, super clear, I can take huge breaths through my nose and I am usually at least 30% or more stuffy due to a severe deviated septum, but when this event happens, its fully clear and open both sides.

Now, the tricky part. SOMETIMES, I do get a sinus-y, back of eyes pressure-y very slight headache when this is happening. There have been some occaisions where the hypserosmia event (if that is what it is), where I'll have a prolonged feeling of the tinglying "getting ready to sneeze" feeling, the the open sinuses, then a migrane-type headache. On occaision the smells do make me feel a little nauseated, but more often than not, it's not a problem.

I used to only get migraines once in a blue moon, maybe 2 times a year max. This hyperosmia event I am referring to is happening nearly every weekened now. Some times are more intense than others and sometimes it lasts for a couple hours, sometimes only about an hour or less.

I have always have some sort of hayfever allergies. It was absolutely awful growing up as a child up until I was about 25, then my hayfever stopped being so bad.

It's just really strange. I have read hyperosmia is actually pretty rare in general, so not sure. I am 44 now, a little overweight but not terrible. Don't smoke (though I used to, haven't in 12+ years), don't drink, no other health issues to speak of.

Anyone else ever heard of this/experienced this?
