Strange throat issue and Head question...

You know the "lump in your thoat" feeling when you're fighting off crying? I've had that feeling now for a over a week now. It feels like I need to wash down some food stuck in my thoat. A mild constriction and lump feeling on the inside of the throat, within and underneath what I imagine would be the adam's apple. It's very different from a sore or hoarse throat. The last cold I had was last year, I have no cough, and I haven't been taking any medications. This began about 9 days ago, shortly after doing ab machine exercise. I can sometimes slightly strain my neck muscles when doing my workout, but it's very slight. I also have back pains that often times make me sleep sitting up slightly so that my chin rests on my chest. I've had no history of acid reflux or heartburn and eat a healthy diet. Any ideas on what this could be?

I wish I knew the answer as I suffer from something similar.

Seems that doctors don't either. I went to an ENT because I had a "clicky throat" when I swallowed. They did their standard test and when there was nothing visibly wrong, told
me it was most likely globus hystericus -- stress, and sent me away for three months.

To me, this simply means they're clueless as I have always had a lot of stress and it has never manifested in this manner -- a clicky throat when swallowing.   No one wants to deal with it. I went to a gastroenterologist too and he sent me packing saying it belongs to the ENT.

So, doctors all make a nice living off of people like us but can't bring themselves to be bothered in something that's perplexing or difficult to diagnose.

Don't get me wrong I have a lot of respect for doctors, but I just would appreciate being taken seriously when symptoms persist.

If it's stress as he claims then why does it happen upon wakening?

I have had that feeling for over 4 months and it has progressed to stinging, intense pain.
Have seen ENT 3 times, everytime he goes my throat with the light and says all looks ok. He can see the hyoid bone pressing against my throat. I do have history of GERD, H-pylori, and LPR. This feeling just came in June , I am also having endoscopy 10-1.
The pain is very bad and gets worse when I talk
