Wax coming out of ears in a steady stream

Is it normal for a three-year old to always have chunks of was coming out his ears (yellowish-red and fairly dry)? It seems like every 3-4 days I have to take another chunk from the entrance. I thought at first that maybe it's a good thing because he will never have his ears plugged by wax, but I have 3 other kids and he's the only one whose ears do that, so I am wondering if it's a sign of some problem?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Excess wax production could sometimes be due to Keratosis Obturans, which is the building up of epithelial layer of the skin of the ear canal and the formation of a keratin plug. It requires regular life-long micro-suctioning of keratinous debris because of the failure of the normal migratory mechanism. It is treated conservatively by debridement of the external canal and application of topical medication. Please check with your doctor to rule out this condition.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

I don't think so.  Kids produce different amounts.  I would maybe get some of the drops that help the wax come out as if he produces an excessive amount, you don't want it to stay in the canal and mold together.  Extraction can be difficult if that happens.  so, actually it is excellent that it is coming out.  Good luck!
