Years of Ears and Eyes problems

Hi I'm new to this forum.

A few years ago I woke up to find I had severe sound distortion in my left ear. Ever since then when I listen to certain sounds I'd get a sound distortion in my ear as well as feel a sort of sensation in my ear as well.

This problem has never left and has been with me for years. I also have narrow ear canals and get wax build up very often and have to clean them out regularly which can be a struggle getting it out.

I've also had eye problems for a few years, what happens is my eyes produce a hard substance which is painful to the eye and must be wiped away. The substance isn't always hard. I've had conjuctivitus at least twice and I'm only a teenager. I think I'm allergic to my cat as one time when I was near her my eyes went crazy and turned red.

I went to an ENT who removed the wax from both of my ears however I had a constant loud ringing sound in my left ear and it seemed my left ear was vibrating (detecting) sound better than what my right ear was.

I've used olive oil to soften the wax up and have had ear infections before. I've also used water to syringe the wac out of my war using different types of equipment until I got the Propulse NG ear irrigator.

I also bought an otoscope and recently a family member told me my right ear canal was shut and my left ear canal was almost shut. I also get pain in both ears and have taken amoxicillin but it seems to have done nothing.

My second ENT appointment I was diagnosed with TMJ and ETD, I have an automatic clicking of the jaw and I'm ALWAYS severely stressed and depressed and have been for years. I've been bullied a lot and other very terrible things have happened to me in my past.

The ENT also gave me Flixonase which was sometime last year November or December I think but it seems to have had very little to no effect.

One time I tried diluted 6% hydrogen peroxide in my right ear which got stuck in there for a day and it was since then that my right ear has a full feeling and ringing.

Any thoughts on my left ear problem, my TMJ, my right ear problem, my possible allergy problem and my eyes problem.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section and if it's a lot to read as I've had a lot of symptoms over the year.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I had an ENT appointment yesterday and he has arranged for me to have a head scan and I have to return in May.

I had a few different hearing tests and a pressure test done on me and results were better than last time. My left ear shows good hearing although my right ear has a minor decrease towards the end but is still good and the pressure test of my right er showed better results than last time.

I was told by my last ENT that I had no nose or throat symptoms.

This time the ENT also examined my ears, nose and throat. He told me my ears were clear of wax and it looked good.

I'm wondering if the hydrogen peroxide has had an effect on my ears as it got stuck in my right ear for a day and seemed to clear up the next day but my right ear has felt gewy and weird since then (This was some time last year and still remains today.)

When I go back I'll discuss this issue further with him and talk about having it closely analysed and possible have eustachian tube treatment.

What my guess it right now is I have trapped air, fluid and/or hydrogen peroxide behind the eardrum and I'm wondering if it's actually caused a change in the eardrum itself which is part of what I'm feeling however I'll see what results I get from the head scan and will take it from there.

I also feel like something is pushing inwards deep inside my ear such as something is out of location.

I'll try some antihistamines as you suggested. I'm planning to take them in tablet form. This should still help with my nose and allergy eye problem right?

Also when I make a certain sight movement of my face I get a weird popping feeling in my right ear and it feels weird but I'm not sure if it's normal.

When I swallow I get a clicking in my left ear but it quite often doesn't happen in my right.

A few weeks ago when I hold my nose and blow my left ear would pop but my right ear would sort of feel like it's constantly pushing outward along with it popping which felt very different to my left ear.

Right now I'm trying to fucus on what's causing the gewy feeling deep in my right ear.

The ENT thought it was strange I tried hyrdrogen peroxide in my ears.

Also as I mentioned ny my first post when I talk or listen to music my left ear picks it up and I can feel it sort of whereas my right ear doesn't really react any where near as much as my left and doesn't seem to vibrate as much as much and isn't as intense such as I'm missing sound in my right ear.

I'll start taking antihistamines probably tomorrow or on Thursday and see how that goes.

I also feel like my TMJ is causing a problem as I feel a line going from my right ear to my lower part of my face and I'm wondering if that has anything to do with the out of position feeling I have in my right ear.

While I'm focusing on my right ear I'm still also wondering what's causing the persistent ringing, pressure and sound distortion problem in my left ear.

I feel these symptoms probably every second of every day.

(Sorry for the spelling mistakes/typos in my last comment and possibly in this comment as I'm not proof reading all of what I type before I post it.)

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament. But please don't do things that can further damage your ear. Installation of chemicals have no proven benefit in the removal of earwax or other objects in the ear and can cause serious injury. Gently rinse the ear using a bulb syringe and warm saline solution. To ease ear pain, apply a warm washcloth or a heating pad set on low. Follow the instructions for ear drops and complete your antibiotic course. You can use OTC Acetaminophen also for relief from pain.

For the ETD, use steroid nasal spray, you can use OTC decongestants/antihistamines to relieve the congestion. Also, the blocked ears can be opened up by the valsalva maneuver, where air is blown into the cheeks against a closed nostrils, this sometimes helps to open up the tubes. Steam inhalations and warm salt water gargles can help clear the tube. Discuss these options with your doctor when you happen to meet him next time.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
