cellulitis

Afternoon.   I have had cellulitis in my nose for over a month.... took Bactrim, Clindamycin, and another 5 days of Bactrim.. which didn't help in the first place... but... i have this swollen membrane (i guess) from the tip of my nose about 1/2 inch back... it always feels like it is going to swell up again....  with no insurance another 125.00 is not what I want to pay since it seems like none of that helped anyway... anybody have any thoughts on this one???

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello and hope you are doing well.

Is there any discharge of pus? Then it could be an abscess and may need to be drained. It could most probably be a staphylococcal infection. The treatment of choice for S. aureus infection is penicillin. The infection could sometimes be MRSA, Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus infection is treated by draining the sore and bactrim. Did you ensure to take the medication regularly? Have you completed the course of the medication prescribed? As unfinished doses can further lead to resistance.  But your present symptoms of persistent swelling indicate that you are not responding to bactrim and that the infection is spreading. So, please contact your primary care physician at the earliest to get prompt medical help.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

I was diagnosed with a Staph Infection on my nose a week ago, I was prescribed Bactrim.  I still have 3.5 days of my ten day script to take.  Tonight I found a bump behind my right ear and then a couple hours later 2 more bumps have appeared on the back of my head and these are painful.  Other online posts I have read indicate this may just be swollen lymph nodes fighting the infection, however, my nose no longer swollen, red or sore.  Should I be concerned that my infection may have spread and the Bactrim isn't working?
