I have had an ear infection for nearly a week now. I'm very tired as the pain in my ear is so bad i can't sleep at all. I've been to the doctor twice in one week and she put me on antibiotics and ear drops even a cream but they don't help. Even painkillers don't help with the pain. If anyone has any tips on getting to sleep i would be very grateful. It's really getting me down.
Thank you both for replying to my post. I could not longer handle the pain so just decided to go to a hospital in Mexico..I have no insurance therefore saw no other way to get this looked at. I just got home, the nurse gave me two shots one in each butt cheek. The doctor told me that I have a severe ear infection that is moving on to my throat..he said he saw white spots, he said that my ear if full of pus and that I really needed to have this taken care of and that I needed something strong to get better. Surprisingly during these past two weeks that I've had this I've been lucky to not have a fever, it surprised him too. He gave me a prescription of one injection per day for 4 days and three other pills to take for the next five days. He told me to stay home and rest, that if I really wanted to get better he advised me not to go to work or to my classes. I got about a $100 dollars worth of medicine from Mexico. I only wonder what I would have gone through here if I had a seen a Dr in the US. I am feeling a little better now. The Dr asked me to go back and see him on Friday. I will see how I am by then.
I wish you both the best in your recovery.
I've had the same problem starting Dec. 14th, was on antibiotics, then steroids without any relief, saw ENT he made incision in both ears as fluid & throbbing pain was in both, he suctioned out the fluid with machine. Well that relieved the throbbing pressure pain but the fluid returned. Then Dr. put ear tubes in so fluid would drain and ears would dry out. Both procedures were not painful but would say rather uncomfortable but so was the pain. Now 6 weeks later I do not have the pain but I have what I sense as blocked ears. This causes vibration inside my head when I talk but Drs. say now they have done all that they can and I may have to live with it. From reading posting on this site this seems to be a common residual symptom. I still have ringing & buzzing and when I talk it vibrates inside my head like my ears are totally blocked. Drs. don't really seem to care about the end results since they say my ears looked good to them upon exam. I urge you to see ENT as they are the only ones that can do the appropriate procedures. Hopefully you can get a personal referral to a good one. Sorry my response does not have a happy ending. Hope yours turns out better.
