Surgery to correct deviated septum

I am wondering whether I should have surgery to correct my deviated septum. My sinuses get plugged up a lot, and I am susceptible to postnasal drip. When I lie down in bed, my nose has a tendency to get plugged up and I have trouble breathing and thus must prop myself up to get air. I frequently feel as if I am hyperventilating while lying down, which is eased by letting more cross-ventilation into my room. I ease my symptoms with Nasacort, Sudafed, and sinus rinses. I am a 37-year-old male. Can anyone provide some advice?
