I just made a post about a similar problem. It's your epiglottis. It's the flap that covers the trachea when you eat and drink to prevent food and fliuds from going into the air pathway. Normally it should be relaxed resting against the wall, until you swallow something then it tenses up and and covers the trachea. For some reason it gets a little swollen and/or tense and stick out from the wall instead of being relaxed. Nasal drip can get in between it and the wall and make it even more annoying. If it gets to swollen and tenses up it can cover the trachea when it isn't suppose to, and sense it could be swollen too it can't block the airway off completely. It might start off with the feeling of something being stuck in the throat. Normally there is a frequent need to swallow and clear the throat. This can happen to people during an anxiey or panic attack. It can be due to really dry mouth and throat. Smoking can also irratate it. IF YOU FEEL LIKE THE SWELLING IS GETTING WORSE, IF YOU ARE GETTING DIZZY, OR EATING AND DRINKING IS BECOMING INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT GO TO THE EMERCENCY ROOM CALL 911 IF IT GET SO BAD. YOU COULD DIE.
This has only been happening to me for a couple months, but I got to the bottom of it in my case. I wasn't sleeping enough I was staying up late writing college papers.. chain smoking...and drinking a lot of pepsi. The smoking on top of the super dry throat really did it. It never happens to me when I'm well rested which is weird.
I'm just trying to figure out other ways to soothe the annoying feeling when it flares up.
well mine has been there for over 1 year now and hasn't gone away...I feel it when I swallow and can hear it too...do I have the same thing anyone know what it is? Thanks
Thos is mucous collecting in the back of your throat after it drains out of your sinuses. Ask your doctor about Mucinex. That dries up mucous after a few days.
Had this happen to me. Went to ER. Ran all kinds of tests and ended up giving me a Zanax and in 20 minutes it was gone. It was anxiety , Cant remember exactly what they called it but something like Hysterica Gloottis. DESTRESS
