lymph nodes

Hello, I have a question about my lymph nodes.  I have had one lymph node on each side of my beck 10 years ago pop up and one removed, which showed nothing other than it was reactive.  Within the past month I have noticed another two on my right side and another one pop on the left side.  I have had a sore throat, the feeling of soemthing down my throat and some pain in neck. I am wondering why this is.  It scares me as much today as it did back then. After having the one removed 10 years ago I am less inclined to want anything removed.  i just want to make sure nothing suspicious was going on.  I have had a few ENT look at it as well.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Your symptoms could be due to a sinus infection, a cold or a chronic allergy. It can lead to a post nasal drip and lead to an irritation in the throat. It could be sinusitis, if it is accompanied by nasal stuffiness and facial pain or pressure. Post nasal drip could also be due to allergens. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor.
In the meantime practice good breathing exercises, humidify your room and do steam inhalations.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament. Lymph are protective mechanisms of the body and they 'trap' the infecting source causing enlargement of lymph nodes. Lymph node enlargement is usually due to infections like bacterial and viral. The infection can be from the draining skin or the organs. The source of infection for you appears to be from the throat. Treatment is usually with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. So, consult your primary care physician for proper clinical assessment. In the meantime for pain relief you can use OTC Tylenol (acetaminophen).

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
