About six years ago, I started getting sinus headaches, which were typically just pain in the bridge of my nose. I saw my doctor at a time when I was not having a headache, and he said he could see inflammation and prescribed a nasal spray, which helped. At this time, I would get very small gravelly and extremely smelly pieces of what I guess was hard mucus caught in my throat that I could eventually cough up (at first I thought this might be partially digested food). Now my headaches are worse and more common, and these pieces of hard mucus are larger and more abundant. They often seem to end up in my throat a few days after a bad headache. What could be going on?
