phlegm with staining of blood?

few days ago i just had sore throat running nose and a minor cough..i just recovered from all of those symptoms by myself, with only taking piriton each night and cough mixture.. then i had no more cough and flu..but still have some phlegm..one day morning, i spit up my phlegm then i see some blood stained there. after that spit i did not have blood stained in my phlegm for that day. but the second day, i had blood stained phlegm in the morning and all the days whenever i spit the phlegm ( without coughing it out)....so...
may i asked wat is my problem? My mum just said that wait a few more days n see whether the phlegm goes off...oh ya, i slept in an air-con room, is this a factor causing me having blood in phlegm untill now?? By the way, i am just 17 year old..=(
emm...may i know wat is ur opinion? Thank you.

Hi,

The symptoms you have mentioned correlates with sinusitis. I would suggest you to try with saline nasal drops, mucolytics (like bromhexine/ambroxyl) and steam inhalation. Drink plenty of warm water. Any more doubts you are welcome.

Hi,

I am happy to know that you did not have any blood in the phlegm today. What you did was right, I would encourage you to do so in the future too. Regarding the questions you asked:

1. Sinusitis is not a major disease; it is one of the most common ENT problems we come across.
2. If do not get any phlegm it means sinusitis has cured. But, there are all the possibilities that it might come back if you get exposed to cold weather/viral infection.

All the best

hi, hmm...is sinusitis serious?  Do you mean that if i do not have any phlegm after taking bromhexine, then there will be no more problem with the blood in phlegm? so , do i need to consult a doctor?  A good news to tell, today the phlegm i spit out without coughing have no blood with it, except once. =) I did not sleep in air-con room de as i saw some of the post here said that if the air is too dry, that may cause blood vessels in nasal breaks.  Thanx for ur advice and opinion. Ur opinion really console me a lot. Thank you!...=)
