postnasal drip?

I am 20 and for my entire life have had lots of flim in my throat, I have to clear it alot and sometimes it's difficult to clear.  Over the past few years I have had quite a few sinus infections, also I frequently (3-4 times a week) I get a clump of thick hard mucus type stuff in what seems to be the place between my nose and throat..once i finally get it out (after hours of aggrivation) i can taste what seems to be blood in my mouth.  I am going to go see an ear nose and throat specialist in March when my insurance kicks in but in the meantime does anyone know if this is postnasal drip, or if it is chronic sinusitis.  I think I might have another sinus infection now I have had a horrible headache (on the right side) for around 3 days now and my breath is really bad.  (sorry for the graphics)  and any information in the area would really be helpful..thanks in advance

I have had increased mucous in the same area.  I have tried sinus flushes, a 45 minute shower each day (the steam along with a cup of hot coffee helps me hack the nasty stuff up.........I make horrific noises the entire time as I try and relieve my sinuses.)  It never comes out of my nose.......only my throat.  3 months after the onset of these symptoms.... 3 rounds of antibiotics later( 1 amoxacillin and 2 augmiten )  I got a cat scan of my sinuses.  during meds I still hacked mucous but it was clear and I could run around and work without feeling clammy and dizzy...nautious etc.  Guess what...I had a cyst in my sinuses and am being referred to a specialist....I'll let you know!

I don't know the answer to your problem but as a speech path I do know  that if you continue to clear your throat you are abusing your voice.  This constant throat clearing can cause nodules/polyps.  You should try and eliminate the throat clearing and drink a lot of water.
