pulsatile tinnitus

I hear the sound of wind blowing in my right ear, and it pulsates with my heart beat, I have been to an ear nose and throat specialist and she told me that I do have pulsatile tinnitus. I had a CT scan done, looking for tumors, and all was good. She told me I'm fine and have nothing to worry about, but then why is this happeneing? I'ts been almsot 4 years now.  Ive been reading up on it and everywhere I read it tells me there can be many different causes, not just tumors, for this condition. Also I've read that if I have had a scan done, it is very possible something was missed, hiding behind tissues etc.  I also have many headaches, and my neck is often sore.  If I press into the LEFT side of my neck, the pulsatile tinnitus gets worse in my RIGHT ear. This worrys me and I would like to know how I can find the cause of this. I've read that aneurysms and tumors etc can be an end result in pulsatile tinnitus, so Im a little nervous..

This all started 4 years ago after comming home from an amusement park, don't know if that has anything to do with anything but yeah.

I am 18 years old.
Any suggestions?

I have had a similar feeling, but 'beats'. Now that I read more on the ear forum, many have this issue. Must be common. Mine is related to thyroid disease I think -It causes many strange symptoms.

My mother has thyroid problems, so it could very well be that for me, she had to ger hers taken out.

If you tap on the back of the head, just below the skull, can you hear "coming out" in the bad ear?  How high a resolution was the CT scan? 0.6mm?

You definitely could have done some damage at the amusement park.  Maybe look into a chiropractor (get a referral to a good one - ask around).  Check in with your doctor about a possible chiropractor visit to see what he thinks.  Tell him this started after being at the amusement park.  Mention again the sore neck, the headaches and the pulsatile tinnitus and wind sound.  Mention what you've read about aneurysms etc.  Don't be shy or feel stupid when you approach your doctor.  It's your life!  Don't let them intimidate you.  I started with many ear symptoms in my early thirties.  I went to two ENT's and they both said go home and live with it.  I finally took myself to an otolaryngologist (ear specialist of specialists) LOL.  He found out I had Meniere's disease.  So if I hadn't helped myself, no one else would have.  Good luck!  If you need any more advice or think of anything else, please leave a message.

I went to an otolaryngologist also. He did hearing tests and I was pretty good for a 42 year old subjected to a lot of industrial noise. Right and left were also equal.

So with Meniere's, your actual hearing is also effected, isnt it?

Yes, with Meniere's, your hearing is usually effected.

Im not sure what the CT scan mm was but i had one done..  it was confusing, it would tell me "dont swallow" then "just relax" i didnt realise then just relax means u can swallow again so im sure u was swallowing durrin the wrong times, but idk if that would effect anything,

my dr refered me to a ear nose and throat specilist, and yeah, after the scan shes like its somethign you have to live with theres nothing more we can do about it.. so that kinda pissed me off, this isnt happeneing for no reason, and now i feel supid being like, no i dnt have ot live with it there is a cause, i feel thye think im like thinkin i know more then them, but i have a dr appt for march break and ill ask about the chiropractor.

its not when i tap the back of my head, like if im laying in bed i hear it, if i turn my head to the left i hear it, but like if im just looking straight i dont hear it, and if i press my fingers into the left side of my neck i hear it, for example if i was to check my pulse on my neck on the left side i hear the wind sound in the right ear.

again im not sure about the resolution of the CT scan
