Hello and hope you are doing well.
Tinnitus occurs with disorders affecting the external, the middle or the inner ear. In the outer ears cerumen impaction or external otitis, in the middle ear fluid collection or disease of the tympanic membrane and in the inner ear damage to the nerve endings can cause tinnitus. As a result of these disorders the external sounds are masked leading to awareness of normal body sounds. You will need to consult your primary care physician for further evaluation, who may then refer you to an ENT specialist. An ENT examination, auditory brain stem response (ABR), a computerized test of the hearing nerves and brain pathways and CT/MRI brain may be needed to diagnose the cause for tinnitus. Treatment lies in treating the underlying cause.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
I have the same problem with my ear. Ringing and an ear infection. Here's what i'm doing now so. I hope this helps you.
Took Clarithromycin (Biaxin) for 7 days:
This is a strong antibiotic so read up on all side effects.
I can tell you one of the side effects is nightmares so don't take
this med when going to sleep. And it's alway good to take some
probiotics when taking antibiotic.
Taking Cleritin:
This will help clear up the inflamation and swelling.
And i'm taking Apha Lipoic Acid:
I decided to take this because I heard this antioxident will help
protect the brain and nerve tissue from toxins/harmful chemicals
called free radicals that may be in the body. And since i don't know
what's causing the ringing in my ear I figgured it's worth a try.
So far the ringing has has stopped some, it comes and goes. I'm mostly hearing a slight buzz sound now. It seems like it's getting a tiny bit better every day, so now i'm just playing the waiting game.
Good luck,
