Preoperative cardiac arrhythmia?

I am 20 and have been bulimic for almost 8 years and I have been very dizzy recently. I just read that electrolyte imbalances can cause dizziness and i also saw a not about two bulimics who were not diagnosed had common surgeries and had preoperative cardiac arrhythmias. I have a tonsillectomy coming up in a month, is this something i should be concerned about? Obvioulsy this is still a hidden behavior and has yet to be recognized by my family or doctors. Thank you.

I'm very conflicted right now, i have tried in the past to talk to doctors before but b/c i know they are sworn to confidentiality, but they  are not allowed to keep that if a person is endangering their life and i'm not sure where this issue stands. I was hoping to hear from maybe a doctor on here. My concerns are coming from just what i recently read on the internet about 2 women who had a history of bulimia and had preop CA but i'm not sure if that is really any reason to worry or not, they weren't even sure if it was the bulimia b/c that was just something they had in common. This may be a stupid question, b/c i don't know the differences between electrolyte imbalances in bulimics and nonbulimics, but don't you think i could just drink some water and gatorade and be alright? I had my wisdom teeth removed a couple years ago and was ok then? Thannk you for the advice though freebee!

It would be good to look into, because tonsillectomies usually require fasting beforehand and/or afterwards. As you know electrolyte imbalance and dehydration are common in those who suffer bulimia and is most likely the reason you are feeling dizzy and/or lightheaded. Your body is in a fragile state right now and it doesn't need any more stress. What you could do is call/email the doctor who is performing the surgery and inform him of your concerns. They must keep everything confidential.

I do not doubt that after 8 years of suffering this in silence you must be quite aware of everything else that is associated with bulimia and other eating disorders, so I'm not going to go off on a lecture about what kind of harm you're doing to your body. I know from personal experience how difficult they are to face. But if you need an ear or any kind of advice I would be more than happy to help.
We're here for you!
