Can I take half of a progestin-only pill?

Hi there,
My endo is back 3 months post-partum (also having the terrible bloating and IBS symptoms pre-ovulation and during menstruation).  The pain and swelling are much worse than before the baby.
I felt great during pregnancy.
The question is... BC pills make me awfully irritable and the progestin-only pill gives me a persistent headache (so much so I deal with the endo pain over taking it)... would it hurt me to only take a HALF of a progestin-only pill to regulate endo?  Would use a condom as protection as well.
Thank you

I can't see how it would hurt, but Im not sure how it would help? Maybe a doctor could better direct you? (you might have seen one by now too!) :)

Im on progesterone tablets now,
Did they work for your previously? Im finding mine having no effect =(

Hope you're feeling better since you posted this :)

Hey there, I hope your new medication helps!

Well My tablets arnt working, last month I had 2 periods and this month none (but it could still come yet).
Im in utter constant agony im going back to my GP for the third time in 2 weeks.. I can't deal with it anymore. Last night I was in so much pain I was on the lounge, couldnt move, shaking, crying and pain I cant describe. I got so desperate I took a tramadol from a friend which only slightly took the edge off my pain, I dont want to go to a hospital as they just give you a hit of something wait for 5 hours untill it wears off and send you home.
So pain wise, its all getting worse.
My moods went out of wack, I got headaches, I have a bigger apetite, tiredness, heavy bleeding.. stuff like that. :(

I hope things work for you!
Mirena can work for some women, it can cause anxiety - and you can spot for up to 3 months. But if it works, it works! :)

Sorry if my answer sounds abit flat today, I've been in agony all yesterday arvo, last night and this morning.

Im thinking of you though and hoping for only the best outcome for you :)

*big hugs*

I had extreme weight gain and nausea.Mood swings as well. But then again all women are diff. When I spoke about the weight gain to my urologist he said what are you taking and I told him and he said didn't they warn you that its a side-effect.I said no.Anyway it didn't work for me either.I was on it for 6 months with no relief.I have had partial hyst as well and many laps too. I am finally having hopefully my last endo surgery with an endo specialist. My endo has taken over.My colon, bowel, gall bladder, bladder and rectum.I have terrible IBS and IC.The drs say its all related to the endo and they cannot help me anymore so that I why I sough out a specialist for myself.I hope you find some relief.

Hi there,

Thanks so much for responding to my question. You are probably right.  I think the idea is to stop menstruation from happening, so taking less of the hormone wouldn't help.  I just started on Micronor (Jolivette) this morning... so we'll see if it helps!

My doctor says the Mirena IUD is the best option, but I am concerned about putting a device up there... then again, if this pill doesn't work, I may have to try it as I am running out of options.

Have you had any side-effects from your progesterone tablets?
