Stopping my period

Hi there, I have been on the Ava 30 contraception pill for about 5 months now and my doctor told me not to take the sugar pills and to skip my period until she tells me otherwise. It seemed to be working for the pain and helped but then 2 months ago I was at a very stressful time in my life and even though I haven't missed a pill I got my period. I have now been bleeding for 9 weeks and it is getting worse the pains are back and my doctor says to just wait it out.

What do I do? How do I stop my period and therefore stop the pain??

Thank you very much for your response. I purposely skipped one pill and the period got worse but now I think it's stopping so fingers crossed but I am seeing my doctor again in a month so I will definitely talk about changing pills

It is possible you might have to switch pills as certain pills don't work for everyone. I was on Marvelon for 8 yrs and it stopped my periods. I took it every single day with no break unless I had break through bleeding. I would come off the BCP and bleed for about 3 days and go back on continuously until the next breakthough bleed.
