Endometrios in the lung ?

I have been diaginosed with Endo. in my reproductive organs,  all the way into my right lung. Having this condition was life changing. I was having my lung collapse almost every period and most of the Dr's. I had gone to looked at me like I was a nut, when I told them I felt like a truck hit me in the chest, (lung had collapsed) Monthly !!!
I ended up having a few chest tubes to re-inflate my lung... My question is will the Endo. die off or will it continue to grow??  Please, I have already had to have a hysterectomy and a partial Right Lung lobectomy...... I was not given any type of HRT to help with all of the changes my body has been going thru...
How common is this? Is this as rare as I have been told?
One more question.... Is it always the RIGHT Lung?

wow. that is rare. very rare. I am really sorry to hear what you are going through.  If you have a hyst, they wont give you HRT because it can cause the endo to grow back again. I am assuming that they are removing everything and burning all the endo. If the doctor is good and gets everything you should be okay. But if he leaves even a piece behind that can grow, sadly enough.  That is why they dont put people on HRTS after a hyst for endo so that it gives a chance for the endo to die off. What symptoms did you have and how did you persist on them checking your lungs?  Most doctors dont because most who dont have experience dont beleive that it can travel all over your body.   I believe that i have it in my stomach because before my surgery i was on some medication for heartburn.  My stomach hurt all the time.   6 months i was on it.  than after my surgery i didnt need the meds because it was stuck to the bottom of my stomach. now a year later that same feeling is back.. just wondering if its the same issue or not.

What other signs were there that you have endo in the lungs? How did you get the doctors to take you seriously?

I have heard endo can travel to any part of the body as well, even the brain.  I believe this is rare however.  I also believe it does not really ever go away, completely.  It can be treated, but some people's bodies are just always growing the endometrial tissue.  I had a lap done in sept of 2007, not even a year ago, and I am in pain again with cramping and bloating.  I wish you a lot of luck in finding a good doctor and being aggressive with treatment.  My prayers are with you.

I don't know much about endo being on the lung, but I know it can travel to any part of your body.  I recently saw an amazing doctor in NYC who removed my stage 2 endo and he's absolutely amazing.  Take a look at his website and if anyone can help you with this, he can.  Just google his name Dr. Kanayama and if his homepage doesn't pop up, then google endometriosis specialist.

Good luck!
