I'm running out of options and need serious help.

I need help urgently. My friend is stuck in medical limbo and we have no idea what to do. We are both close to breaking down completely and I just have no idea what to do next. Here is the situation:
• Age: 33 • Sex: Female • Height: 5’2 • Weight: 235 • Race: White • Duration of complaint: 1 Year • Location (Geographic and on body): Lower abdomen center and right. Goes up to belly button. • Any existing relevant medical issues (if any): Endometriosis, adhesions from past surgery.
'In February 2015 I had surgery to remove my left ovary. While she was inside me she cleaned up as much Endometriosis as she could along with some scar tissue. Dr. Pe*** said that there was more scar tissue and endometriosis on my intestines that she couldn’t get.

6 months later I began having abdominal pain again. Dr. Pe***** said I probably should have surgery with a general surgeon to remove the adhesions and endometriosis. Dr. Bl*** did a colonoscopy and said that she wouldn’t do the surgery to remove the adheasions until I was a year out from surgery.

Last week I started having pain again and bleeding in my stools. I went to O***** **** regional where they thought I may have a intestinal infection. I was put on 2 different antibiotics. I started having extreme pain on Sunday and went back to the er. They chose to admit me. The first dr I saw the night I was admitted told me that he was pretty sure that I was going to require surgery on the adheasions in my intestines. The second dr (gi) came in and asked if I ever had a colonoscopy. I said yes about 6 or 7 months ago. They asked who did it which was dr bl***. Then they put in a consult for surgery, to deal with the adheasions. The surgeon came in and told me I needed to have surgery but have it done through my surgeon at O**** Dr. Bl***. O*** Medical Center never sent over the copy of my colonoscopy I was told that I would probably need to be transferred to O*** Medical Center to get the surgery. Then the social worker came in and told me that I am not an official inpaitent but I am an observastion paitent. Which apparently means I can’t be transferred. Also told I may be sent home with pain meds. I can’t function in the hospital with IV pain meds but yet they are talking about me going home and going to O**** Medical Center ER which ***** to be admitted that way. I know for a fact they will not admit me.

I am 33 years old. I am in so much pain in my lower middle and lower right abdomen. It is a sharp stabbing pain that comes in waves of increased pain. Over the course of being at ***** **** regional the pain has increasing gotten worse. I have started becoming nauseous and vomiting.  I can barely walk to the bathroom. It requires me to walk extremely slow and clutch my stomach. Any sort of movement makes the pain so much worse.'

We can’t keep going back to the emergency room every week. I’m afraid for whats going to happen in the next couple of hours. We can’t go back to the original hospital that she had the colonoscopy and removed her ovaries and endometriosis. They are awful and treat us like trash because all they see when we arrive is the number of times she has gone to them for help. I need guidance on what our next step should be. Should we hire a lawyer? Should I take her to her doctors or surgeons office and refuse to leave until something is done? I’m afraid that once we leave here and we go to O**** emergency room they aren’t going to do anything and she is going to give up. I’m afraid that I’ll get a call in the middle of the night saying she OD’d on sleeping medication or ate a gun. She has two kids and no other support other than me and I’m not sure what else I can do. She needs this surgery and nobody is willing to do it. They aren't paying attention. How do I make them pay attention? I'm sorry if this is not the proper place to put this, I couldn't find a category that fit the criteria.

I would highly highly suggest seeing an Endometriosis specialist. It looks like the ones that have treated you have not been one. so if you are interested in finding one that can help me let you know.

I still would call the 'House Nurse Supervisor' and get him/her involved.  This is not how hosptals treat their patients. All my years of employment were in the medical field. At the very least this person may be able to help or offer advice on getting her into the other hospital without having to wait many hours in the ER. I really hope your able to get some help facilitating an effective treatment plan. Hang in there!!

We know what the problem is, adhesion with the possibility of endometriosis. The problem is the doctors won't do a damn thing about it because neither of those things show up on a CT scan or a blood panel. I can't do this anymore.

They are kicking her out of the hospital. The insurance won't admit her for one more day and the on call surgeon here won't do anything. I was told by the on-call doctor on the floor that the reason the surgeon won't do anything is because she was previously operated on and doesn't want to assume liability for problems that occur during the surgery. They say pain isn't enough of a reason to keep her admitted. We are forced to go back to the hospital that originally did her oophorectomy. We are forced to go through the emergency room in order to hint at the possibility of seeing the on-call surgeon at the other hospital.

She broke down in tears once she heard the news that Olathe won't accept her through the normal hospital channels. I don't know what else to do. I'm close to breaking down. She has broken down. This entire situation is fubar.

I am sorry to hear of her pain and struggle to get decent medical attention. I would ask the floor nurse to call the 'House Nurse Supervisor'. This person is in charge of making sure patients are getting adequate care, pain control and have her properly admitted instead of being in 'observation'. If the nurse isn't willing to call the House Supervisor then go to the front desk in the lobby of the hospital and ask the person at the desk to pave the House Supervisor. I am sure this is your best bet at getting some proper help. Oh, and there is no reason the doctor or his own staff can't call the other hospital or doctor and get the Colonoscopy report for you. It's there job. Her job is to rest and get to feeling better. Hang in there and please post an update as soon as you can. Best wishes,
