Pain

Im 32 years old. On day one of my cycle I suffer severe right shoulder pain. It last about 3 days and goes away till the next month. Could this be linked to endometriosis?

That is good that you don't have any other symptoms and its just that. There are a lot of people who have no symptoms and the Endo is found by chance.

The pain I believe is Endo related. Its weird I know like I said I have mine in my knee.

Are you on any form of BCP?  I take the BCP continuously and I don't get the pain anymore. It really works well for me.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
It is not the usual muscular shoulder pain. This is a sharp stabbing pain (only on day 1 to day 3 of my cycle). i know it sounds strange but it happens like clock work.

Thanks for you reply, yes I have been diagnosed with endometriosis but Im one of the rare cases that does not have any symptoms until this shoulder pain, and its the weirdest thing.
i was diagnosed by chance when I have my caesarean section.

I would say yes it is possible it is linked to your monthly cycle.

Do you have Endometriosis?

What happens to me is that I get knee pain a couple of days before my period and once the period is over it goes away. Its random but it happens to me.

If its only happening around the time of your period and you have Endo I think its possible. That is just my opinion.

It might be from bleeding into the abdominal cavity at the beginning of the period.  There are some nerves in the top of the lower abdomen that get really irritated by gas from laparoscopy, and the pain refers all the way up into the shoulder for many days after the procedure.  If some menstrual fluid did that same thing, it would feel as irritating.  Have you ever asked the doctor if you could have an ultrasound on day 1 of your period?  They might be able to see if there was internal bleeding then.

Hi alley32,

Just read your comments. Personally, I don't think that shoulder pain
is linked to endometriosis. As far as pain in your shoulder, a really good
product to use for pain is called Traumeel which is available in a cream
and tablets. You buy this product in a health food store and it's homeopathic so it won't interfere with any other meds you're taking. My mom who has
frozen shoulders swears by it and it smells nice. My husband and I use
Traumeel too. It also helps to make bruises fade. It's a wonderful product.
Hope this helps. Eve
