Periods after baby with Endo

I am curious as to those of you with endo (mine is a moderate case, not that bad but I've had it return quickly, within a year of my last lap, with a bit more endo than I had the first lap-my laps to remove it were in 2007 and 2009 (Jan of last year). After that surgery and stopping my birth control I'd been on for years, I successfully conceived my 1st baby.

My Dr advised to keep on the pill, mostly because he just really likes it but also, said that my periods will go back to the way they were before I ever took the pill (was bleeding for close to 2 weeks straight in my younger days, though this straightened out somewhat I'd say 10 days or so after some years) if I don't continue using the pill. My pill is a low dose one but I'm having other health issues that I think are being exaserbated by my use of the pill, so in frustration I threw my pills out this month (I was just going to start taking it again this month in Mar and my baby is 3 months old-born Dec of last year)....

So my question is, for those of you who did NOT automatically resume the pill who have been diagnoses with endo and had a baby, how were your periods after? The same as before the pill? Better? or worse?? This first period I have had has been terrible but some of the extra bleeding could be due to me taking 4 days worth of the hormones and then stopping, I'm sure. (I had skin rashes and increased allergies and started getting releif when I stopped the pill). I know wevery woman is different, but wanted to see if there was ANY proof at all to what I think may be an old wives tale that some women feel better from their endo after having a baby. My grandmother swears her painful periods went away after she had her (four!) kids...but I do not know if she was officially diagnosed with endo or not though other members on her side of the family were!

Apparently my cycles are all messed up now- I got my period after just 17 days from my last cycle! Ugg! Tried going without pills but this is crazy- going to talk to my dr. Thanks, protea!

How long are you being allowed to keep taking the new ring? For some reason my dr seems to want me to have periods every once in awhile at least.

That is the great thing about the Nuvaring. You put it in for 3 weeks and then take it out for a week if you want to bleed but my dr just had me put in another one straight away after the 3 weeks so then I would not have a period.he told me that you don't have to have a period all the time.I was like that after my second child until my hysterectomy. If you want to try it you should talk to your dr about it.I had no side effects either from it.b/c pills made me very sick and the Nuvaring only delivers the hormones down there where it is needed. My husband and I both loved it.

Geez I'm so sorry you are still in pain after all of that! I know there is a chance you can still have the pain associated with endo even after the hyst. I am really praying my periods aren't that bad after- this first one was terrible but I know you can't always judge on that b/c it was my first after baby and most ppl do have problems with that one...My doc thinks the pill will help with the endo but mine seemed to stay bad on it (before I had my baby), so i'm not sure it will really help all that much....if it WILL I'd like to take it but I'm having issues with itchy skin and allergies when I try to take it and then with the baby its hard for me to remember to take it on time. So, trying to wait it out and see what my periods will  be like before deciding...I just dread going back to the way I was before. (Would bleed almost two weeks straight!)

well my experience was that I was diagnosed with enod in 2003.I have had it since I was 12.I had my first baby in april of 2006 after having 3 laps.1 in 2004 and 2 in 2005.then they said have a baby so we did and my period came back may the dr said it was the normal bleeding but I thought different but by July I knew it was back and full force
with the endo pain and all.but my accident I fell pregnant in Oct on the mini pill and breastfeeding.I guess there is a .1% that it can happen too and I was that %.even after my second baby in 2007 it was still there.I did use Nuvaring for a while and had much relief from that as you can have no periods with it.Anyway I had to have a hysterectomy in 2008 as it was so bad and told it will be gone.BIG CHANCE!!!!! The drs could not believe when I told them the pain was back 2 months after that.I was told that it was all in my head and sent to a pain clinic. It is now 2010 and I have found my own endo specialist in WI and he is willing to help me rid this for good.
I know all stories are different but that is my one.Its not a happy one but I am hoping for a happy ending soon.
