Yasmin for endometriosis??

Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with endo 6 months back and was operated on immediately. The gyne later commented i had stage 4 endo which was very sever at my age (I'm 26 this year). Subsequently, i was given Decapeptyl for 3 consecutive months, stopped for 3 months and now starting to take Yasmin..I've read about the side effects of Yasmin but there seems to be few people taking Yasmin to help with endometriosis..can anyone advise? i would really like to know abt the side effects and whether Yasmin really helps..Thanks!!

I was 20 yrs old when diagnosed with endometriosis, and chocolate cysts. I had a laproscopy surgery, then I was put on lupron(menopause shots) for 6 months...worst months ever!!! Then I was given Yasmin.  When my now husband, and I wanted to try for kids, we got pregnant instantly(right after last pill of pack)& we had three children by my age of 24(single births) I am now almost 30, & I am still super fertile(post laproscopy,&lupron,Yasmin) and haven't had any problems with returning endo, and I continue to take Yasmin.

Endo and prego  HAHAHAHA the pain only goes away because the estrogen isnt producing as much as it normally would .High levels of Estrogen creates growth of endo. ! I have lived with it since I was 11 y/o the start of my cycles . I am Now 30 and have take deadly amounts of 800 mg IBP and Aleve and so on . No doc would take me as being honest when I said take it all out every last bit , I gave up on docs until this year when the pain got so bad I had to go to the ER . Come to find out my cervic was now fused to my pelvic region . My new gyno said the my uterus was enlarged , after my TAH doc said every thing was in a huge ball MASS of endo tumors and was fused solid to my pelvic area . Finally something was done and done right . We had to be careful on the estrogen after so nothing would grow back . Now on that note all females in my family "8 of us" have all had hysterectomy by the age of 35 not one of us has had a return of endo .

With birth control pills and shot and so on all they are doing is trying to balance out your hormone levels and trying to mask the issue at hand.
Been there done that had three pregos and it always got worse after birth.

I am five weeks post hysto and loving every min I dont have pain. I past the day I was supposed to have my next cycle and was cracking up WAHOO no pain!

Now with all that being said ~ I am not tell you what you should do but however I am telling my story.

Hi. I had lap done three years ago. I had endometriosis and tumor. I lost my right ovary. i had problems with my left ovary, too, but it wasn't as bad as the right ovary. After the surgery I started taking Yasmin (in order to stop the endometriosis on my left ovary) and I was taking it fot almost three years. Yasmin was recomended to me by my doctor and other doctors because it is very effective medication for endometriosis and it is not like the other medications that makes you go into condition of early menopause. I was 19 years old when I had lap and Yasmin was the best solution for me. It helped me to make the endometriosis process stop for a while and it made the cysts not to grow rapidly. I didn't feel anything unpleasent while I was taking Yasmin and I didn't have any kind of problems. But, because my organism is disposed to endometriosis and I am a rare case in this illness (if I may call it that way), eventhough I was taking Yasmin the chocolate cysts on my left ovary started to grow rapidly and Yasmin was no longer usefull for me, so six months ago I had to do a punction and I started with Zoladex treatment (this injections make you go into the condition of early menopause). I took five injections till now and I have one more and my treatment will finish. Things are going ok so far, but I feel awful! I am turning 23 years in December and I fell like I am an old woman. I am very deppressed, I sweat a lot, I am more aggressive and sad! I think that these few months will live marks on me that will last long time... My doctors and other doctors recomended me to try to conceive after the Zoladex treatment, because the only cure for endometriosis that they know (that works) is pregnancy, because while you are pregnant there is a perfect hormonal ballance in your body and endometriosis is gone (at least for a while). So, I will see how everything is going and I will decide what to do, eventhough I don't have much choise. However, I think that Yasmin helps and there aren't serious side effects.

Hi chocoyi,
I was wondering how you are doing on Yasmine.  I was diagnosed with rather extensive endometriosis this past June during laparoscopic surgery for a rather large ovarian tumor (benign).  I had suspected I had endo over a year ago, but had a hard time getting a different OB-GYN to take me seriously when I suggested it!  Anyway, I am currently considering having my doc switch me to Yasmine as I am not having such a good time with Ortho-Cyclen (which I had started just prior to surgery), understandably so since it is high in estrogen and low in progestin.  Plus, I tolerated Yasmine well in the past.  But, as far as I can research, Yasmine is not a first-line choice for endometriosis.  Anyway, what have you been told and what is your experience thus far?  Thanks.
