A mono infection in its early stages may not show in the rapid test, but will show in the other antibody blood test which takes longer to get the results, but is more reliable.  Could explain why one was positive and the other was negative because you may have been in the early stages of mono infection.  I do not know about a false monospot being caused by HIV antibodies.  You could try posting in the HIV Forum.
Usually with mono, you have swollen lymph nodes in neck, sore throat, fatigue and fever, but not everyone experiences all of these symptoms.
Some people with mono go on to develop Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which is another possibility.

the reason i went to the dr is because my ear hurts and i had two swollen nodes on my neck so we did a mono test and it was positive but the rapid one two days later was negative. no symptoms, no sore throat, no fatigue, no fever, normal WBC and lymph, NOTHING. back in the begin of jan i had a mild sore throat for 2 days and went away, some small swollen nodes, and a low grade fever 99.3 for two days but a mono test conducted at the end of jan/begin of feb was negative. i have had no symptoms at all that inidcate mono. even in jan my labs WBC and lymphs were normal. Can a false monospot test be caused by hiv antibodies but my 12 weeks antibody test for hiv which was done only two days before the mono test was negative and a 12 weeks hiv is conclusive right?

I am not sure about the tests, but what symptoms are you having?
