This is correct, about 95% of the population will test positve for it. I tested positive for it about a year ago.
According to my doctor there is no medication for it, just medication for the symptoms if you get any.
Mine is dormant, but I had a co-worker whose was active, & she really got sick. She had to drop out of school for a semester because of it.
Hi Julie, while what the other members have said is true, it's also true that in the majority of people, the virus is not active. Therefore, they don't have any symptoms or effects. What you have sounds like an active case, whether initial or re-activation. I don't mean to scare you or anything, but given that you have fibro, your body may have a little tougher time dealing with ebv. However, that's not to say things won't get better! Unfortunately this won't be easy with your 5 children and unsympathetic husband, but you need to get as much rest as possible; that's one of the best "helping hands" you can give your body in fighting this infection. So keep your head up; things will almost certainly get better! Also, I wouldn't worry about ebv being linked to cancer. From what I've heard, it's very difficult to link one to the other, given that, as the previous posters said, 90-95% of people have ebv. Anyway, I'm not a doctor, but I did a considerable amount of investigating ebv when it had me sick; so I hope this has helped you!
so far from what I've been told 95% of all people have this...
I wouldn't worry about it. It seems everyone has had EBV. Including me. If 10 of your friends were tested, I wouldn't be surprised if 8 out of 10 had it at one time, really relax.
My doc had told me its very, very, very common.
