No one knows why this is or why it is happeningl

I havent been able to get to the dermatologist yet but i went to my normal doctor already and he did a blood test on and it came back negative for the herpes simplex virus.I had the epstein barr virus a year ago and im wondering if that is something that can come back and cause what im going through.Every once in a while i get fever blisters all over my lips that make my lips really red and swollen and then clear fluid leaks from the blisters if they pop and it usually takes about a good 2 weeks for it to go away and they also get very itchy on the blisters and all around them.I have never even had a cold sore and now all the sudden im getting these fever blisters every once in a while.Valtex and Zovirax did absolutely nothing for me.I havent changed any of my eating habits to make this start. What could be causing this? It was becoming more frequent and painful but i starting using L-Lysine ointment and also taking it in pill form and it has helped a lot but now it has come back again after i used some strawberry chapstick.I think i cant use chapstick either after years of being able to use it since this is the second time that happened after chapstick...Any ideas?

Hi, that doesn't really sound like Epstein-Barr Virus to me.  Not to say it can't be EBV, but you may want to look into the HSV possibility a little more.  Fwiw, I had canker sore in my mouth when my EBV was severe, but it wasn't on my lips, and they went away within a week or so.  Good luck, and hopefully you can get this figured out!

I would go to the doc when u have one of these and have a swab culture done on it, there is a 3 month window period for hsv and to my understanding the swab of an open sore is more accurate, if you still come up with nothing look into alkaline water and infared saunas, sounds stupid but it will help greatly, try an infectious disease specialist, sometimes even your family doctor can't diagnose certain conditions, good luck
