Hi, that doesn't really sound like Epstein-Barr Virus to me. Not to say it can't be EBV, but you may want to look into the HSV possibility a little more. Fwiw, I had canker sore in my mouth when my EBV was severe, but it wasn't on my lips, and they went away within a week or so. Good luck, and hopefully you can get this figured out!
I would go to the doc when u have one of these and have a swab culture done on it, there is a 3 month window period for hsv and to my understanding the swab of an open sore is more accurate, if you still come up with nothing look into alkaline water and infared saunas, sounds stupid but it will help greatly, try an infectious disease specialist, sometimes even your family doctor can't diagnose certain conditions, good luck
