Heart rate recovery

I have recently been reading how heart rate recovery after exercise may be the best indicator of future cardiac health. My father died at 57 of a suuden heart attack. He unfortunately never took very good care of himself. I am a 38 year old male and have been exercising for years as well as watching my diet. I recently had a physical and my doctor said I was in great shape. EKG was fine. Although my LDL is borderline high at 141, my HDL is 81 and my triglycerides are 78. I also have a bit of white coat syndrome which can elevate my bp to around 140/90, but it is normally in the 127/77 range.

As for my question; My resting heart rate ranges from the low 40s to low 50s bpm. I just finished a 4 mile run in 31:30, and my heartrate got up to 163 bpm. I then took my heart rate two minutes later, and it was 110 bpm. Is this considered good, average or bad?

Thanks for the info.
I thought I was on target, but it's always good to get confirmation.

Your heartrate of 110bpm is good. I am a fitness instructor & I tell my students that they need to cool down to 120bpm before getting on the floor to do abdominal exercises & stretches. Make sure you don't stop abruptly when you finish your run. Most exercise related heart attacks occur due to an improper cool down.  Keep up your exercise regimen.
The benefits are numerous.
