Hiatal hernia when fencing?

Hello. I have been suffering a "stomach knot" sensation for more than a week. It´s the first time it happens to me. It doesn´t spoil my appetite and it doesn´t hurt a lot but it doesn´t leave and I´m worrying. Some friend told me it could be hiatal hernia. I have remembered that a couple weeks ago I received a stroke-poke while practicing fencing that hurt for a moment and might have reached the diaphragm... Is it likely at all that I´ve got hiatal hernia from that? It´s not bound to heal itself then? At first I just thought it would be an eating disorder related problem, my meals not being all the regular they should.
Thank you

Hello,

No, I haven´t had surgery of my abdomen in the past. And it´s not exactly a swelling, excuse me if I was vague. It´s hard to describe, it´s more of a "knot in the stomach" sensation that improved at least once after eating and a little bit when belching. I have made a little research and now I´m thinkg it might be a stomach ulcer. Maybe the fencing accident was just a coincidence. I have tried taken ompeprazol and it´s better. I am going to visit the doctor anyway.

Thank you!

Hello!

Did you have any surgery of your abdomen in the past? Is the swelling coming out of a scar?
You have to recollect the history of this swelling, how it started, is it reducible? Does it become obvious with coughing?

The poke due to fencing may sure have caused injury on your abdominal wall and the swelling can be due to inflammation, healing and fibrous tissue.

The best thing is to get yourself examined and rule out hernia; if there is a hernia then you have to plan an elective surgery.

Take care!

I don't think the poke caused a Hiatal hernia usually it's caused by heavy lifting. Of course
that's usually not always!. You should see a Gastro MD.
