Spine surgery is a major undertaking and exercise is very important to get better after spinal surgery. Walking and swimming are one which I followed after my spine surgery NJ.
Do NOT push yourself!!!! I had spinal surgery. I did just that and now I live with chronic pain 4 years later. Do not rush. Healing is a process. Go through the process. If you have a physical therapist ask them what they recommend for him exercises. Pain medication makes it easier to re-injure yourself because you aren't completely aware of the stress you put on your body. Just focus you energy in properly doing recovery exercises. Follow all instructions. Focus on the nutritional aspect of your health. Be sure you are eating a balanced and healthy diet. Look into the total amino solution, it's a little pricey but I cannot even begin to explain what an amazing supplement it is. 100% natural. All it is are different aminos that will help you heal. It's a great source of protein among many other things

You should pretty much rest until you r fully recovered before doing any physical activities. I would talk to your doctor though if I were you.
