"Jumping" muscles after exercise

I have scientifically named this "Popcorn Butt." :)

When I would get home from a brisk neighborhood walk (when I was still able to walk briskly--can't anymore), and after sitting still for a minute or so, the muscles all across my rear and hips would start "jumping" or twitching randomly, like popcorn popping.

This would last for a minute or two and then die down.

What gives?? Is this normal after exercise?? Anyone else experience this?

Thank you JainMD! I always wondered if that was a normal thing after exercise. I don't know why it only happens in my rear (not my legs). Anyway, it's harmless!

Hi,
It is indeed normal after exercises.
Muscles twitching are also called as fasciculation’s. Muscle twitching is the result of minor local muscle contractions or the uncontrollable twitching of a single muscle group served by a single motor nerve fiber or filament. Some minor muscle twitching is common and goes unnoticed, but some may be sign of underlying neurological disorder.
Benign twitches are normal and quite common, often triggered by stress or anxiety. Any irregularity in your daily diet can also cause similar symptoms. Any drug overdose especially caffeine.
Exercise can also induce twitching.
Keep us posted if you have any queries.
Bye.
