Wrist pain from weight training

Hi Folks

I have a pain in the outer wrist area, feels like possibly the tendon against the bone kind of. Last year I used to get a stinging pain in this area when doing narrow grip bench presses. I stopped that soon after but now its starting to bother me with the other exercises Im doing. Im pretty sure its the bench press thats aggravating it now, I think my technique is ok, only deviation in last year is keeping my elbows in rather than out, unless thats causing it? Anyway, hate to have to stop, thinking of maybe trying out the dumbell bench press instead, that way my wrist is a bit less rigid. Any ideas, tks in advance

I remember my father telling me that you would see some of the older generation bodybuilders with surgery scars on their wrists. Caused from continuously going too narrow with their grip. You can still hit your triceps with a gap between your hands, try either thumb gap or something like 6 inches. Place your elbows closer to your body and the barbell aimed more over your lower chest. Another mid-range triceps exercise substitute is the lying triceps extension with a barbell or dumbbell. Barbell is extended and then lowered over head; dumbbells are lowered over side of head. Good luck, hope that helps!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

Bench press other than involving your chest pectoralis muscles involves your arm muscles like deltoids, biceps and triceps and your forearm muscles like anconeus and coracobrachialis. I would suggest you to get yourself examined near an orthopedician for a possible pull or damage to any muscle and take appropriate treatment.

You can decrease the pain by using ice packs and also by intake of intermittent pain killers.

Take care!
