Jogging is going on a constant velocity like conserving your energy and going for a measured distance for a measured time.
Running is a natural explosive and controlled by the brain/Adrenalin and the will of the individual and with you able to run faster, complete races and achieve goals in a faster way.  In running your speed varies continuosly.
Best of luck for your race and jog in the marathon to start with and explode by running after you get the measure of the marathon.
Take care!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. That is exacly what I was looking for.  Now I will be able to say that I actually run and not jog.  A lot of my friends was asking me are you running or jogging and I couldn't answer them. I do run every single day. Monday to Thursday I run 8.5 km, Saturday and Sunday I run between 15 to 25km and Friday it is my day off (need to do the grocery shopping).  I am running a marathon on May 24 and would like to do better than last year. Last year I did it in 4h (first marathon).

With my interpretationo your question, the difference would be the intensity. If you are training to become an athlete and train your heart you would be running at 75-85% of your max heart rate. When jogging, you are in the FAT BURNING zone of 60-75% of your max heart rate. It just depends upon the persons goal.
