I had the same problem for YEARS, along with all sorts of other rashes and itching. My doctor sent me to a dermatologist for a 'patch test' to test for skin allergies/sensitivities. It turns out I'm allergic to 10 different things, including nickel! All disposable razors I've ever seen contain them. I threw them out along with the various shaving creams I"ve tried (I'm also allergic to Q15 & fragrance, which is in most lotions/creams/make ups). I've moved on to a nickel free electric razor. It has been a Godsend. I've been itch/rash free for 2 weeks. I'd strongly suggest you get a 'patch test' done to determine what you are allergic to. In the mean time, it wouldn't hurt to get an electric razor.
Attention all leg scratching addicts!!!....I'm a 31y/o male and I had the exact same symptoms for years! It sucked so bad, I know. I also have terrible cedar fever along with everyone else that lives in Central Texas so I went to my doc and he suggested I try over the counter Zyrtec. I started to take Zyrtec everyday to battle that. Once I started my daily dose of the miracle drug, I noticed my 30min crazy leg scratching sessions (along with sneeze attacks) came to an end. I've been scratch and sneeze free for 2 years now. My doc said the cedar allergy and itchy legs were most likely not related but if the Zyrtec helped both, then great! Give it a try, become an ex-scratch addict like me. Ya gotta take 1 Zrytec daily for about a week before ya notice any difference but it really worked for me so be patient. Hope it helps!
That's the only thing I use to shave conditioner and I shave my face and head
Just a note if you dry your razor blade after every shave the blade will last forever It's the water that dulls the blade just make sure to rinse the blade every so often with some alcohol.
Hey,
I think you guys should stop using razors... try wax or something that takes the hair from the roots... I had the same problem and I solved it like this. It is quite painful the first 4 times but then you just get used to it.
well I have the same exact problem but I've tried so many different razors and conditioners and everything else i could think of but it doesn't really even work anymore. But it's the same symptom's every time; itchy, prickling skin after I shave. No matter what razor I use it happens all the time. Sometimes it'll not happen if i sit in the bathtub, and sometimes it will. Sometimes it'll happen when I do that too. I've even tried to not even shave my legs but i can't stand to not do that either because my legs will hurt when the hair on my legs get so long. I've tried to use lotions(non-scented and scented), alcohol, buffers, hair removal sprays and gels. I'm at my wits end at trying to find a cure for my itchy legs. I almost want to dip them in pure acid. What do I do about this recurring problem?
Hi,
I think the problem lies in razor or that particular blade as this the only thing which is still common in all the events.
Try to change the razor or blade, the one which Talz is talking about.
Try to use conditioner which you have not used and ones which are less allergenic.
Hope this helps.
Bye.
I knwo this may sound weird.. but have u ever used conditioner to shave your legs??
If that doesnt work... try to buy a expensive razor that is electric, those work wonders..
My legs get really itchy and Ive noticed that really heavy creams only work..
such as Nivea (not soft)
and I seriously LOAD it on..
Hope this helps
let me know
I have same prob. I don't shave at all anymore. Try using a soap alternative and rinse with hot water with a little Oilatum or Alpha Keri oil (water dispersable). These are available at a pharmacy but I am in Ireland and not surewhat would be available to you. Ask for urticaria relief, that's the best I can suggest
