neck pain

A few months ago I twisted my neck and felt a pop. I had severe pain and had very little range of motion. The pain begins at the base of my skull on the left and right side. I thought the pain would resolve on its own but it hasn't. I have been to a chiropractor, but ended up gettting severe muscle spasms in my neck. I have been to a massage therapist many times, which helps temporarilly, but I cannot afford to go weekly to keep those going. Is there anything else I can do for my neck? I have also tried yoga and stretching.

Hello!

Take some pain killers and if required wear a neck belt. Do not stretch or overly put pressure on your neck.

Get an X-ray done and rule out any cervical spinal issues. Follow proper ergonomics.

Follow up with an orthopedician and apply ice packs to relieve you of the pain and inflammation.

After diagnosis take the orthopedician's advice for treatment.

Take care!

If it is discovered that you have no dangerous complications via a doctor prescribed MRI, x-ray or whatever they need to 'see', you need to strengthen your main neck muscles.

This is not easy. It will hurt at first, but by now your used to pain so what the difference? Ever see a neck wieght? You use it strapped to you head over the edge of your bed. Raise head till fatigue - like 15 reps to start. If you go to PT for you pain ask about a neck wieght. r i n g s i d e *******
