right knee pain

Hi My name is Debbie,20 yrs old. I just want to ask about my right knee. Its been hurting for few years now but only occasionally. It only hurt once a month or every after few mos. but it bothers me because i can tell my upper right side on my right knee is a bit bigger than the left side. and when it hurts i used to touch it and i can feel like a muscle on it and has a weird feeling when i touch it. it doesnt feels like a cyst or lump. Its not very painful but im just worried why is it like this? I had an x ray few year ago but the one who reads it said theres nothing on it. but i think it will show more on x ray if my knee was bent coz it feels like it hides when my knee is straight.. and sometimes i can also hear and feel like a snap, like a " tick" sound. I hope someone can explain to me what you think it is?? I would appreciate it... thanks for the time and I apologize with my grammar coz im an asian not so fluent in English lol.... I'll be waiting for you explanations, thank you...

Hi. The symptom of popping or snapping in the knee can be a sign of a few different problems. It can be accompanied by a fracture, cyst or tendon inflammation if not properly managed. However, it is important that you see an orthopaedic surgeon for evaluation. If several diseases are suspected, additional diagnostic modalities may be requested. For other concerns, consult your physician. Hope this helps.
