abnormally huge quads

Hi there, I am a 26 year old male and I have been having a lot of problems lately.  I feel like my quads have developed too much and the rest of my body is suffering from it.  My hamstrings are incredibly weak and I have no strength in my lower calves.  They are jutting up into my back and it has become very painful.  When I walk, I am hunched over, and it has become rather difficult to stay mobile.  I have been trying to do exercises and stretches to compensate, but it seems to no avail.  I have been to several doctors for this matter (not a sports physician yet, because they turned me away due to lack of insurance).  I'd like to be able to get back to work, because I have a very physical job.  Can anyone help me?  Thanks.

Jon

Hello!

You might be having gait disturbances due to bone problem in your legs or some other neurological issue.

I would suggest you to try proper shoes which might correct your gait. If this does not help an X-ray of your leg bones might be helpful to compare any problem and also a proper examination of the spine may diagnose some problem.

Also follow up with a neurologist for the gait disturbance.

Take care!

Hello!

I would suggest you to work on your hamstrings and calf muscles and strengthen them. You would also need to have a routine check up of all your lower leg muscles by an orthopedician.

With continuous focused training and physical exercise you will gain strength in the back of leg. The hamstrings aid in flexion at the the knee joint and the three chief muscles involved are semitendinosus, semimembranosus and biceps femoris. The calf muscles are gastrocnemius, soleus and plataris which are strong flexors at the ankle joint.

Physiotherapist will also be useful to design a schedule for flexing at your knee joint and ankle joint.

Take care!
