You don't say what running you have done but I'm guessing you aren't a regular runner. Many people taking up running start by doing far too much, feeling dreadful and not continuing. Some of the following may help.

- look on line for the C25K (couch to 5k) programme. It's an 8 week plan of 3  sessionsa week that takes you from non runner to running 3 miles. And it really works. Pod runner provides free downloads for the program that do the counting for you

- look online for 'my Asics'. This site allows you to log your runs. Perhaps more importantly you can generate training programmes based on your current running ability. Again the programs work.

- set your alarm to get up half an hour early, set out your kit ready to put on in the morning, and, in the words of a certain advertising campaign, just do it. No. Seriously. Just do it. You may well hate it at the time but afterwards you will feel good that you did it.

I get motivated when I look at healthy lifestyle magazines, watch shows about weightloss, talk to my friends and coworkers about what they do to stay in shape, etc. It's best for me to treat workouts like an appointment - I schedule the time. Write your goals for the week. Make plans and set goals. Plan to do a fun run or 5k. There are phone apps and websites available to get you started. Good luck!
