14 year old son with blurry peripheral vision after game

Good morning,

My son is complaining of blurry peripheral vision after his football game last night.  He said lifted weights lightly this morning and sat down to do homework and noticed that he could see to the sides--that it looked black and blue and he could only see what he focused on.  I had already asked him if he had done any heavy lifting this morning and then also asked if he had eaten breakfast yet.  He hadn't eaten and was on his way to do so.  I was just concerned that it might be a slight concussion since he had hit hard the whole night and said that one hit made his head feel like it was vibrating :-)  I told him to go to the school nurse if it didn't get better in 30 minutes.  I just wasn't sure if I was overreacting or not doing enough.
Thanks!

Thank you for your reply! He seems to be doing fine now--vision seems to be back to normal.  Nurse at school thought he might have slight concussion but he wasn't complaining of a headache or feeling nauseous.  I will still have him checked though-thanks!

I would have him see an ophthalmologist for a complete eye exam.  He will need a visual field and a dilated retinal exam.
