eyelash loss

hi - i've had dry eyes for one year, the initial symptoms were just dry eyes, this increased to mucins, then itching, redness, tearing.  i've been to so many consultant opthalmologists.  i'm now 29, female, nothing is helping. my current diagnosis is ocular allergies or rosacea.  i have no skin symptoms, but have noticed a red nose.  anyway, all of the doctors say there are no signs of blepharitis.  I am on a tetracycline antibiotic for acne - for several years.

my biggest concern is my dry eyes and eyelash loss.  my eye doctor says he cannot help me with the eyelash loss.  i've tried prednisolone eye drops for one week - but had to stop becuae they irritated my eyes, i am now on FML eyedrops - have been using them for 15 days, no improvement in eye condition and no halt of eyelash loss.  fml is really irritating my eyes - i may stop these aswell because my eyes feel unbearable.

please help me - what can i do to stop this inflammation that is causing the eyelash loss?

Hi Emsed.  I posted a similar thread in the Derm Community under "Eyelashes-fell-out-and-not-growing-back-w-Latisse".  I had a clump of mine just fall out for no apparant reason (the curling iron might've been the culprit, but I'd been curling my lashes for almost 12 years so it's doubtful).  I'd also been using Latisse for years (under Revitalash when it wasn'y yet FDA approved and the product was available), so my lashes were always super long and lush.  Only one single lash has grown back in almost 3 months, so my Derm prescribed FML (the ointment) for me.  I've been using it for only about a week now and also haven't noticed a difference.  It leaves a greasy residue on the lashes adjacent to the "bald spot", and I'm scared that weighing those down will also make them fall out.  You might want to ask your MD for Latisse.  It's worked for almost everyone in terms of growing lashes, but I'm not certain it helps in growing back lashes that have fallen out.

Good luck.  Keep us updated... I'm interested in learning what happens in your case.

Dear emsed,

Other conditions may cause eyelash loss.  I would seek care of eyeMD and dermatologist to determine a diagnosis.
