Adult lazy eye

i have severe myopia sice childhood. Now i, am 29, wear glasses of -16.00 on both eyes. only the right eye has full correction and i m depending on it. But my left eye has not been in use since childhood and it never had full correction. resently, i can assess to health care and i saw several opthalmologists. they said that i have got amyopia on the left and LASIK doctor rejected to operate my eyes. Can a lazy eye be trained again in adult life? Should i seek some treatment to get full correction of my left eye? is there any operation to get everall better vision (wider vision and 3D visoion by using both eyes together)?

The most important thing is protect your '"Good" eye from injury or disease. Live a healthy lifestyle, don't smoke, if you drink alcohol drink in moderation, eat a good diet and don't get overweight.

No harm in trying to exercise the amblyopic eye its just that the chance of it getting better are small in an adult.

thank you for information, Dr. I m now in Taipei and some doctors speak well to me and some don't. Anyway i decided to exercise that lazy eye again even though the possibility is little. Maybe someday, i can see better and better treatment for refractory error might be discovered. why should i stop doing from my part to retrain that eye.

Yeah Doctor,experimental only for while,
At least as to treatment for adult amblyopia was advertised one expriment that canadian doctors have made using eletromagnetic stimulation and happened an improvement for a while,on the treatment that the brazilian doctor made the improvement was permanent.
And another experiment was published, the experiment was made using video-game and oclusion and all of the people submmited had 30% of improvement.

This surely is experimental and has not been reported in the world eye medical journals or duplicated at other research centers.

That's all I can say.

Hi,
I know one Doctor here from Brazil wich study neurovision deeply, seem like he just end his PhD at Italia in conjuction with another great student of neurovison process.
This Doctor had amblyopia and was submitted to Eletromagnetic stimulation on brain neurovision areas and treatment with phototerapy,he said to me that got to recover 100% of vision on ambliopic eye permanently.

Later i will be submitted to his kind of treatment, but i am having some difficulties here at Brazil to find phototerapy directed to eye.

Amblopia means the eye does not see normal with full correction. As an adult, indeed after the age of 7-8 the treatment is usually unsuccessful. Know the condition is often hereditary and any children should be observed closley for the conditions.
