Are Lamellar cataracts non syndromal?

I was born with congenital lamellar cataracts, now my eyesight is fine, in fact many optomologists sung praises for how good it is, I have had surgery to remove the left and insert an IOL at 5, and the right is actually stable and my vision is 20/40 with glasses so they haven’t ever bothered to touch it.

I guess my only question is about systemic concerns, a few years ago an eye doctor referred me to a genetic counselor about disorders related to congenital cataracts. The specialists agreed I was a bit of a freak of nature as I do have some moderate hyper mobility but that’s about it. Then later I was told by another eye doctor that Lamellar cataracts are strictly non syndromal meaning they have no correlation to any systemic disease like other cataracts might, this was somewhat explaining why the neurologists who seen me kept telling me my cataracts ‘weren’t the right thpe’ For diseases I was worried about.

I guess I wonder why the original eye doctor was concerned if another said my cataracts were an isolated kind, are any of you aware of this? I would assume it is fine as the hospital and clinic where I had the eye procedure done was second to none and they never once mentioned to my parents about follow up for a different disorder.

Can be hereditary but not associated with systemic diseases or other non-eye health syndromes

This is a good reference. Note lamellar cataracts often not present at birth and NOT associated with systemic disease LINK  https://disorders.eyes.arizona.edu/disorders/cataracts-lamellar

Well that is very reassuring at least. Thanks so much. I could very well have developed them after birth as Mom said the delivery Dr was sure the nurses checked for cataracts. Still either way if they are non syndromal I am happy and relieved,
Oh happy day.
So out of curiosity does that mean lamellar cataracts being totally non syndromal are not genetic at all? Can it happen from something else? I’m just wondering because I was two weeks overdue as a baby and my birth was very complicated for my mother.
