Are My Sore Eyes Sleep Related?

I am really struggling here.
3 yrs ago I started to squint my eyes and noticed how dry they were getting. Now 3yrs, 3 opticians and 3 opthalmologists later I remain functionally blind with chronically dry, burning eyes.  One eye is squinty and the other half closed (ptosis). I am tense in the base of my skull, temples, jaw, neck and shoulders and often feel disoriented I presume from holding myself strangely in an attempt to see. Reading is so hard because words are jumping about on the page. I cant even watch tv without discomfort so i have my eyes closed as much as possible.
My vision is ok when tested and i have no thyroid issues.
As an overweight 45yo woman, the only suspicion my opthalmologist had was sleep apnea and maybe floppy eyelid syndrome (although my eyes dont appear elastic!).
After a positive result for sleep apnea I have been on cpap treatment for a couple of weeks. I am still sleeping badly while i learn to tolerate this treatment but as yet i have seen no difference to my sore and squinty eyes.
I cant find anywhere online anyone who has shared this disabling state I am in and the professionals i have seen all seem a little bemused too.
Is sleep apnea still a likely culprit? Should i give it more time or should i be looking elsewhere? I feel hopeless. Please help if you can.

Thank you for your response.
Sjogrens syndrome has been mentioned but dismissed because i dont have a particularly dry mouth. I do have a horrible and constant urge to swallow what feels like mucous in my throat however.
Punctal plugs were going to be tried but on the day they were to be inserted, my eyes werent overly dry yet i was still squinty.
Blepharospasm was also considered but my squinting feels more protective rather than clamped.
Restasis has never been mentioned and i have had a general blood screening so i am unsure what would be detected.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. Your input is greatly appreciated as i am extremely compromised with little hope currently.

Have you had blood tests for Sjogren syndrome?  Have you tried Restatis and punctal plugs for the dry eyes?  I find it strange that multiple ophthalmologists haven't figured it out.
