I am really struggling here.
3 yrs ago I started to squint my eyes and noticed how dry they were getting. Now 3yrs, 3 opticians and 3 opthalmologists later I remain functionally blind with chronically dry, burning eyes. One eye is squinty and the other half closed (ptosis). I am tense in the base of my skull, temples, jaw, neck and shoulders and often feel disoriented I presume from holding myself strangely in an attempt to see. Reading is so hard because words are jumping about on the page. I cant even watch tv without discomfort so i have my eyes closed as much as possible.
My vision is ok when tested and i have no thyroid issues.
As an overweight 45yo woman, the only suspicion my opthalmologist had was sleep apnea and maybe floppy eyelid syndrome (although my eyes dont appear elastic!).
After a positive result for sleep apnea I have been on cpap treatment for a couple of weeks. I am still sleeping badly while i learn to tolerate this treatment but as yet i have seen no difference to my sore and squinty eyes.
I cant find anywhere online anyone who has shared this disabling state I am in and the professionals i have seen all seem a little bemused too.
Is sleep apnea still a likely culprit? Should i give it more time or should i be looking elsewhere? I feel hopeless. Please help if you can.
