Yes, absolutely. There is good evidence that Lutein and Omega 3 will help stabilize AMD and prevent progression.
The AREDS study showed the usefulness of Vitamins A,C,E, and Zinc and Copper in decreasing the progression of early macular degeneration. Research is still ongoing regarding other supplements, so there is really no good proof of the benefit of other nutrients...yet! Lutein is one of the elements being studied now, so it couldn't hurt to use it.
Thank you. I have read they are getting some very promising results with the AREDS2 formula. My concern was they have replaced Vitamin A with Lutein and wonder why they don't have both. Thanks, again for your prompt reply. I do have an ophthalmologist but my next appt. is not for several months.
